The main of us weren’t born rich. And we all tried to look for ways to make money from nothing. We already dreamed about starting from zero and become millionaire, make our success story. And you can do it! The hardest part is to start. Once you start and you keep motivation, nothing can stop you if you know where you go.
In this article, I give you 4 ways to get money from nothing. The idea here is to get your first money in order to get bigger money.
1. Find a full-time work
Sounds ridiculous but it’s a reality. If you start from zero so find a work and get your first money. Take the first jobs that come to you, don’t wait too much. I did many hard and shitty jobs in the beginning. I tried to find the jobs with the most working hours to get a higher salary (63 hours a week, in the cold, in bad smells, with hard physical stuff). You will not do it all your life, it’s for short-term. And there is advantages to do it. First the salary of course, but also the motivation. It will make you build a stronger mind and prepare you for the following. I hated so much my jobs that when I finished it, I was motivated like never I have been, and hurry to work for myself. I know what I passed through, I know where I go and now I am unstoppable.
2. Bargain Hunter, Collector
You understood, the point here is to find valuable items at a cheap price and sell them back at their real value to get profit. The market of collection is huge and the demand is constant. The hardest here is to find the items.
First, choose a category of item. Try to look for one where the competition is lower. For example, today would be useless to choose the Pokemon cards. They are millions to hunt them everyday and on every marketplace. Trust me, you would lose your time. Once you chose your category, study about it, become an expert about the category to know the current prices and which items are wanted. You will save time during your searching process. For example, if you choose the old toys, list all of the valuable ones and know how to recognize and expertise them.
Secondly, search your items on a different marketplace from the one you will sell them. Go on second hand particular marketplaces where people sell anything and are not aware about the real values of collectible things. There, you will find high value collectible items at low prices. Of course it takes time but search smartly everyday and you will always find something. Think to ask more photos in order to better expertise the items, but don’t show it too much because the seller will start to search about it.
Then, sell them at the right price and on the right marketplace. To know the right selling price, try to find sales references. Go on eBay and search your item in the “items sold”. You will find at what price people buy it today. Some items can take time to meet their buyer, so don’t low your price in the first weeks. About the marketplace to sell your item, I advice you eBay. It’s the most famous one and the demand is there. You also can try physical auction or other online auctions like Catawiki. Just check about the fees before to not kill your profit.
I share with you my personal experience about bargain hunting. I was working and I wanted to get more money so I went into it. I chose french comic books. I was searching them on Vinted and Leboncoin, both popular second hand marketplaces in France. I took half an hour everyday when I woke up and before sleep to search. I did it for 2 months and I made 1.100€. So imagine if you do it many hours everyday and with many categories!
3. Sell your services
Main of us have a field in which we have knowledges or know-how. If not, you still can learn and train to something on internet.
The most complicated is to start and find first clients. It exists platforms to match offers and demands like Fiverr. If you studied design, marketing, languages, law… there you will can sell your skills in many countries. If you didn’t studied any of those, do not worry. There is things more accessible. You can be pet sitter if you like animal, au pair if you like children. You can cut the grass, the trees, do housework in your neighborhood. There is platforms for all these services but to have more clients and earn more money, better you prospect by yourself. Write a letter with your contact information and your service, post it in the letterboxes in your neighborhood. I give you a tip, target old people. They need these services more than others and they will be happy to help a guys like you rather than pass through a company.
I used to cut the grass and trees in my neighborhood when I was in college and I made 200-300€ per month just working few hours during the weekends in summer.
4. Social media influencer
You want to do it? Start right now! It takes time but the time and effort you put into it always pay back. Chose a topic and/or a specific audience, then create content.
The amount of followers increase exponentially. The beginning is long and can dispirit some. But keep in mind that followers are like money: the more we have, the more we get.
The first big goal to reach and maybe the hardest is the 10K followers. To reach it, you will need high quality content and regular frequency of posts. Be the most present on the social medias you chose. Follow other accounts which have similar audience, similar topic. Don’t waste time by giving Likes, leave positive comments, share their posts and interact with them. Think about co-creation content to share your audiences too. Interact a maximum with your own audience and make them part of your content strategy.
Once you reach these 10K followers, brands will start to send you request for collaborations. Don’t accept each of them, select your collaborations that will interest your audience. Moreover, you will can create your own brand and promote it through your community, which is for me the best.
Bonus: Avoid the too-good-to-be-true ways to make money
You already read, saw or heard these kind of advertisings who tell you that you can easily make money by investing in something. Please, don’t let yourself be attracted by it. As I said earlier, more you have money and more you get money. But if you don’t have a lot, then it’s mathematic, you’ll not get a lot.
Earning money with investment require a minimum of big money. We are talking about some percents of your investment. So if you invest 1000€, what you will get? Some tens euros in the maximum, more the risk to loose a lot. Investing need money and a precise strategy. Until you don’t have both, it’s not your way to make money. So go get your first money, save it and accumulate it!
The most important here will be your motivation, keep it in mind.
